approach 精读：处理方式、着手处理与接近
从一个单词到能用的表达：分清名词 approach to doing 与动词 approach a problem，再用例句、易错对比和自测巩固。
01 · 先抓住今天要学会的表达
英式：/əˈprəʊtʃ/ 美式：/əˈproʊtʃ/
词性：n. 名词；v. 动词 词表：Oxford 3000 · B2
重音在第二个音节。名词和动词的基本读音相同；英美差别主要在中间的双元音。音标、词性及词表等级已按文末来源核验。
今天建议优先掌握：名词表示处理问题的“方式、思路”；动词表示“着手处理”，也可以表示“接近”。看到这个词，先看词性，再看结构，最后选择词义。
02 · 从词性区分重点意思
n. 名词：处理方式、思路
在这个义项中，approach 是可数名词：an approach、different approaches。它强调你从什么角度、以怎样的整体方式处理事情。例如，先收集证据再判断原因，可以称为一种处理问题的 approach。[1]
名词还有“接近、来临”的意思，例如 the approach of winter（冬季的来临）。因此，不能看到名词就一律译成“方法”。本篇以“处理方式”作为学习重点。
v. 动词：着手处理；接近；找人商谈
当宾语是 a problem / a task 时，往往表示“着手处理”。当主语或宾语涉及人、地点、时间时，可以表示“接近”。在工作或社交语境中，approach somebody about something 可以表示找某人谈一件事。[2]
“处理问题”和“找人商谈”这两个用法通常直接接宾语；“接近”可以带宾语，也可以独立使用。词形变化：approaches → approached → approaching。
03 · 把词组作为记忆单位
下面是建议优先练习的搭配与结构；这个教学顺序不代表词频排名。

04 · 四个例句，把结构看清楚
We need a different approach to testing this feature. 自编例句 · 工作
中文：我们需要换一种方式来测试这个功能。
解析：主干是 We need an approach。different 修饰名词，表示换一种思路；to testing this feature 说明这种方式针对什么活动。
语法：这里的 to 是介词，testing 是动名词；this feature 是 testing 的宾语。不要因为看到 to，就自动把后面看成动词原形。
Let's approach the problem by checking the logs first. 自编例句 · 工作
中文：我们先检查日志，来着手分析这个问题吧。
解析：approach 是动词，直接接 the problem。by checking the logs 交代采取什么行动作为切入点，first 强调先做这一步。
语法：Let's + 动词原形 用于提出共同建议；by + doing 表示通过某种行动。这里的 approach 表示开始处理，不保证问题已经解决。
As the deadline approaches, we need to focus on the remaining tasks. 自编例句 · 日常安排
中文：随着截止日期临近，我们需要集中精力完成剩余任务。
解析：approaches 表示时间逐渐接近，后面没有宾语。the remaining tasks 是尚未完成的任务。
语法：开头的 As the deadline approaches 是时间状语从句；the deadline 是单数主语，所以使用 approaches。主句是 we need to focus；这里 need to focus 中的 to 引出不定式，与第一句的介词 to 不同。
She approached her manager about working from home. 自编例句 · 工作沟通
中文：她找经理商谈居家办公的事。
解析：主干是 She approached her manager。后面的 about working from home 表明谈话主题，因此这里更适合译成“找人商谈”。
语法：approached 是过去式；介词 about 后面的 working 是动名词。这个句子只说明她提出了商谈，没有说明经理是否同意。
05 · 两个易错点与一个用词对比
名词的 to，与动词直接接宾语
表达“解决问题的方式”时，优先练习 an approach to solving the problem。在 approach to … 这个名词结构中，to 是介词。
表达“着手处理问题”时，用 approach the problem；不要把名词结构中的 to 搬过去，写成 approach to the problem 来充当动词短语。
这是针对本篇两种结构的区分，不是说任何包含 approach 和 to 的句子都遵循同一种规则。判断时先看词性和具体句法。

approach 以元音音素 /ə/ 开头，所以用 an approach。不定冠词 a / an 的选择依据是后面词语的开头读音。
approach、method、strategy 怎样选择？

这些侧重点会随语境重叠，不能机械地一对一替换。你可以先采用“收集证据再判断”的 approach，再用具体的排查 method 执行。
06 · 雅思应用与已核验原句
阅读／听力：先识别它是“处理方式”，还是表示距离、时间或数值“接近”。当文章介绍一种新的研究思路时，名词义尤其值得留意。
写作／口语：讨论教育、工作或解决问题时，可以练习 a balanced approach to … 和 adopt a different approach。这些是应用建议，不代表使用某个词就能提高分数。

中文：均衡的教育方式可以兼顾学业成就与实践技能。
解析：主语是 A balanced approach to education，谓语是 can support；both A and B 把两个并列目标连起来。can 表达可能性，整句是用于示范语言的自编表述。

“This revolutionary approach is called cladistics”
中文：这种革新性的方法被称为分支分类法。
解析：This 指向前文介绍的研究思路，revolutionary 修饰名词 approach；is called 是被动语态，表示“被称为”。上下文在介绍研究生物演化关系的方法，因此这里译为“方法”，不译为“接近”。
